Exchange your license to a Danish license

You can exchange your foreign drivers license to a Danish one by following these steps.

  1. Contact your borgerservice at your commune.
  2. Validate your driving license from your home country
  3. Contact us when your papers are approved.

We will help you to reach your goal of getting your danish license, by passing the theoretical exam and the practical exam. You may choose to study on your own for the theory test or join our group classes.

During the process, we provide support in terms of understanding the Danish rules of the road, helping you adapt to the Danish traffic culture, and ensuring you are confident to drive safely and responsibly in Denmark.

Drivers License (CAT B)

At Drive Trafikskole, we offer group lessons at the blackboard, exactly as the law prescribes, with the class starting approx. every week. You can therefore start on your driving license when it suits you.

You can still drive legally in Denmark if…

If you’re looking to drive in Denmark with your foreign driving license, there are certain prerequisites to keep in mind:

  • If you’re a non-resident, you can use your foreign license provided it’s written in Latin script. In case it’s not, you’ll need an official translation in either English or Danish from a public body in the issuing country.
  • For residents of Denmark with licenses issued by an EU country, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway, you can continue to drive as long as the license is valid.
  • Ukrainian license holders residing temporarily in Denmark due to circumstances in Ukraine can also drive using their Ukrainian license.
  • For those permanently residing in Denmark with a Greenland license, it’s acceptable if complemented with 2 driving lessons taken in Denmark.

In any other situations, you’re required to exchange your foreign driving license for a Danish one to drive legally in Denmark.
